Chapter 2

It was the middle of the semester, but I still wanted to go home, get married, and be a traditional bride. But my parents and my in-laws decided to execute the marriage without me. Apparently, my husband was coming to the U.S. They sent me my marriage license, which I signed and sent back. They had a big ceremony there. I got a phone call during the ceremony, when the priest asked me if I would accept him as my husband. I had seen him when I was very young and had vague memories of him. When I met him and spoke to him again, I was already married to him.

I was programmed from a young age to accept that I would marry the man my parents would pick for me. I never dated; my horizon was very small. I wanted to get married, I wanted to be a bride. I was probably too young to understand more about the marriage aspect.
